Cortical Screw We provide a premium range of cortical screws, which have closely-spaced, shallow threads and larger core-to-outer diameter ratios than cancellous screws. In addition, they are much stronger than cancellous screws of the same outer diameter. The cortical screws are usually blunt ended and to minimize damage to the soft tissue, this end should extend only a few millimeters into the soft tissues beyond the far cortex. For fixing plates to long bones, these fully -threaded screws are used to fixate both cortices so that maximal stability is achieved.
